My oldest daughter shared a thought with me the other day that I absolutely love. I am not sure where she heard it but it is something I want to share, especially with you Domestic Engineers (aka stay at home moms.) I am always busy, just like other moms and if I ever take time out for myself I tend to feel guilty, like I am wasting time. If I sit down and get on the computer instead of scrubbing bathrooms (um, like right now) I know I am not getting anything accomplished but am I wasting time? Probably. But when my husband is home during the day, we will sit in the spa or something and chat about this and that for an hour or more...I am not getting anything accomplished around the house but I sure do enjoy talking with my buddy. I was relaying this to Hayli and that is when she said "Mom, time enjoyed is not time wasted!" Yes!!!! Now, I have an excuse. I am really NOT wasting time because I am enjoying myself, right?

The older I have gotten the more I have realized that very thing. So many things that I use to think was so important to accomplish during my day - really isn't. You've got to enjoy life and time with your love ones. That's what is important. You don't get time back - the bathroom or the laundry can wait.
I've complained about being bored lately. But the sad thing is that if I sit and do something for myself I do feel guilty. It's like I constantly have to be doing something "domestic" or else I feel lazy. I love that quote. Hailee is a smart girl. Just tell her that she needs to right that down and remember it when she has kids!
I think it's easier for our husbands to relax in the evenings because they come home feeling like their work is "done" for the day. But because we stay at home we never feel like our work is done!
Hayli is one smart girl! I have stopped feeling guilty about taking time out for myself, but then I look around the house after one of those days and I feel the guilt seep back in!
It is terrible that we seem to feel guilty when we take time out for ourselves. I have found that as I have gotten older I don't feel so guilty. I feel I deserve it. Live it up while I still can, that's my motto.Mom
